It was a beautiful day yesterday, so I decided to go to the Louisville Zoo. The animals were not being very cooperative, and I was not getting many pictures. When I went to the lion exhibit, they were just getting ready to feed them and they went into their indoor enclosure. As I was leaving, I happened to notice this box that said Giraffe in their exhibit. I'm guessing they put Giraffe on it as the lions, when they are awake, like to lay on their boulder and watch the giraffe in the next exhibit. The keepers put new things in their exhibit to stimulate them. Something to explore and play with. Well, I went back about an hour later only to find that one of the lionesses had put her head in the box and now it was stuck around her neck! They had cut the flaps off, but left the bottom in and she must have flipped the box over and then stuck her head in from the bottom. You could tell she was not happy about this situation and was trying to rub the box off on the trees and boulders. She went to the edge of the boulder, let out a few roars and then laid down, I guess resigned to the fact that she now had to put up with the box. Don't worry though, I went back a few minutes later and she had somehow got the box off.
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
